AIR CONDITIONING FAQs

BELOW WE HAVE COMPILED A LIST OF COMMON QUESTIONS THAT WE ARE ASKED BY OUR CLIENTS.

WHAT DOES AN AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM DO?

Air conditioning is the process of altering the air within a chosen space. The term 'conditioning' refers to the control of the temperature, humidity and cleanliness of the air, so as to achieve the desired environmental conditions. Air Conditioning recirculates the air through filters to trap dust and pollens, which can also aid people who may suffer from allergies and respiratory problems. Once installed, you can quickly decrease or increase the temperature within any of the rooms within the premises to your chosen level while also allowing you to keep doors and windows closed helping to improve security, and at the same time keeping out insects and external noise pollution.

WHAT TYPE OF SYSTEM DO I NEED?

We offer a free site survey as there are a number of different types of air conditioners. A ductless split system will allow you to use a single compressor that will channel the coolant into any room in your premises via wall-mounted cooling units. These types of air conditioning system are more cost effective and flexible for small premises. Larger rooms or premises require the installation of vents and ducts that funnel cool air via an outdoor compressor. This type of solution will give you far greater control over the individual temperature of each room via a zone control system.

DOES AIR CONDITIONING AFFECT HEALTH?

Buildings are constructed to reduce the energy required to heat and cool it. However in order to do this, ventilation is restricted which leads to higher humidity levels caused by re-circulating the same air and pollutants. Without good ventilation or an air conditioning system, dust, mold, viruses and bacteria will circulate throughout the building. A well maintained air conditioning system can also help to  prevent or reduce some health effects by improving the quality of the air and evironment.

IS INSTALLATION DISRUPTIVE?

Each and every installation is unique. We’ll work with you to assess when and where is the best place to work, and will compromise wherever we can to ensure that any disruption is always kept to a minimum as the last thing we want to do is to disrupt your daily working practices. Whether it’s a small office or a larger premises, at Superior Air Solutions, we always try to keep noise and mess down to a minimum by using efficient working practices.

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM NEEDS SERVICING?

There are tell-tale signs that show your air conditioning service is overdue. It is important to get your air conditioning system serviced if you notice that, your unit no longer performs to its original levels, it is not cooling or heating effectively, air flow is restricted or unpleasant smells are coming from the system, These types of problems can mean your system is at risk. The majority of air conditioning repairs occur in systems which have not been regularly serviced and the solution can end up being expensive. The installation of your air conditioning system is a major investment. You should protect this investment with regular servicing which will prolong the life of your system and keep it running efficiently.

For commercial premises such as offices, restaurants or shops, we advise that a minimum of two visits per year be arranged. In critical locations, such as data server rooms, we recommend that a regular maintenance program is put in place, usually a visit every 4 months or each season. In a residential environment one service visit per year is often enough, however, where it is used for both cooling and heating or is constantly in use, it is recommended that you have a visit every six months. Superior Air Solutions offer cost effective packages if you have multiple air conditioners that require servicing.
